Lesbian – Gay – Bi – Transgender – Queer – LGBTQ with Herpes
If you are gay, lesbian, bi or transgender and have genital herpes (HSV1 and/or HSV2) you are not alone!
Bay Area Friends welcomes everyone over 18 who has genital herpes, regardless of gender, sexual preference, race, religion, ethnicity or point of view. To join the Bay Area Friends Meetup Group, go to http://www.meetup.com/bayareafriends1
There are also 2 much less active Yahoo Groups that you can join catering to gays or lesbians who live in the SF Bay Area.
Bay Area Lesbians with Herpes is at https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/balesbianswithherpes/info
SF Gay Men with Herpes is at: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/SFGMH/info
We encourage you to join the Bay Area Friends Meetup Group FIRST since these other groups are not very active, and our main group is welcoming of EVERYONE and a lot of fun. You’ll probably meet more LGBT friends by organizing LGBT events on the main Bay Area Friends Meetup Group than you will by waiting for the existing Yahoo Groups to organize anything. Bay Area Friends main group has about 10% LGBT members and even at non-LGBT-specific events, everyone is totally welcome.
Whatever group(s) you decide to join – remember – these groups depend on regular members LIKE YOU to organize fun events, and tend to become whatever you make of them. If you make a consistent effort to get the word out and build awareness, over time you will be able to increase your membership and support network. Tell your friends and partners to join. Organize events and gatherings for your group so members can meet each other. Don’t expect other people to do all the work. Do your part!
