Muir Woods Anniversary Hike, Mill Valley, Sunday, June 8, 2008, 8:30 AM - 5 PM

Join Bay Area Friends for a beautiful hike into and through the rustic and breathtaking redwoods of Muir Woods, leading up the well maintained Mt. Tamalpais Trails and onto Stinson Beach. 10 miles round trip.

Once we get into Stinson, we will have a yummy sit down lunch at the Park Side Cafe You can check out the menu and the prices on their home page.

We will meet at Muir Woods entrance between 8:30 and 9am. We hit the trail at 9am. There is a $3 entrance fee. If you can not pay, scholarships through the 'Deedi wants you to go' Foundation (DWYTGF) are available, but a limited number of scholarships are available so you will need to get in touch with Deedi sooner than later.

If you are car challenged, we have carpooled in the past, and can continue to do so for this trip. I live in Berkeley, across the street from BART. You can meet at my home in the morning. I leave my house at 7:30am sharp (as it takes about 40-45 minutes to get there).

There are always options in getting you here (my home) so we can get there (Mt. Tam).

It is a 10 mile round trip hike. I would consider it for intermediate hikers to advanced hikers. Beginners have gone, and they have done just fine, after cussing me out and flipping me off. Once that gets out of their system... then their energies go into getting up the hill and all is fine. I do offer encouragement along the way, even while dodging punches... it is all quite adventurous!

I hike rather slow these days as my back is not what it used to be... at least until I get to Stinson and have my Bloody Mary's then I am just dandy!

But THIS hike is special in that it is to celebrate the 2 year anniversary of Dan and Elisabeth who met 2 years ago on this hike, hosted by me... :)

Please help me celebrate their happiness by coming along for some great laughs and a beautiful day with good food and friends.

It's a very laid back affair. The first hike I had 18 people.. TOO much fun, goes to prove... the more the merrier.

So dust off those hiking boots, break out the sunscreen... pack water, snacks, and whatever hiking necessities you may need and join in! Remember, this is not just a hike but a celebration...

This is also a great FIRST EVENT.

If you don't think you can do the whole trip, then work it out with someone to park at Stinson, and then the two of you drive to Muir Woods, hike to Stinson and drive back. Also, if you would just like to meet at the Parkside and have lunch, not hiking at all, that is an option too...

Just when you though it was safe to return to the Mission, we are back and ready to enjoy the warm spring sunshine and a couple of cold beers with our SF BAF crew.
