APRIL 2008

East Bay Vintners "Urban Wine Trails" Tour , Saturday, April 5,, Noon-5 PM

Looks like we have 2 designated drivers and room for a few more people in our cars to do the East Bay Vinters "Urban Wine Trails" Tour this Saturday, April 5, 2008 from Noon-5 PM.

We will be tasting food and wine pairings from 13 wineries in the near East Bay (Emeryville, Berkeley, Oakland and Alameda).

Only those people who RSVP to me in advance can be part of our 2 car caravan, which will be meeting at one of the BART stations so that people can use public transportation to join us. I will give directions for how to meet up with us only if you RSVP. Once our 2 cars are full (10 people), we will need additional designated drivers or else you'll be on your own. So this event is "first RSVP, first serve!"

Tickets are $30 if paid in advance, and $35 at the door.

Admission includes tasting at all of the 13 participating wineries, a souvenir wine glass, tasty food pairings produced by the winery or in partnership with local restaurants and caterers, cellar tours with winemakers, and more!

For more info, go to: http://eastbayvintners.com/2008/02/29/ebva-passport-event/

To RSVP, Email Ellen asap at: mondotravel at yahoo dot com

The event will showcase 13 different wineries at 8 locations in Oakland, Emeryville, Berkeley, and Alameda. The wineries participating are: Adams Point, Andrew Lane, Aubin Cellars, Dashe Cellars, Eno Wines, Irish Monkey, JC Cellars, Lost Canyon Winery, Periscope Cellars, Rosenblum Cellars, Tayerle Wines, Two Mile, and Urbano Cellars. Four of the wineries are custom crush wineries and will pour their wines at one of the other EBVA member winery locations. This one-day event is an excellent opportunity to visit 8 locations and taste wines from over 13 wineries within a 10-mile radius, who produce a diversity of wines to satisfy every wine lover—from the inexperienced but enthusiastic to the most sophisticated palate. The wine list will include Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot noir, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne, Rousanne, and Tropical fruit wines.

San Francisco Silent Film Festival. Saturday, April 12, 2008

Are you a film buff? A newbie such as myself? Or someone who wants to do something a bit different? If so, then please join me at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival! This event on Saturday, April 12th includes viewings of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari at 7pm and Nosferatu at 9pm. The festival is being held at the grand Castro Theater and will include live music original-score accompaniment by Bay Area legends Club Foot Orchestra.

The price of admission for adults is $20 for either Cabinet or Nosferatu. However, if you'd like to see both films as a double feature it is a discounted price of $30 dollars. Tickets can be bought at the door or online. The web link is http://www.sfjazz.org/concerts/2008/spring/artists/cabinet.asp

If you are interested in going, please email me at (XYZ) and I'll see if we can set up any carpools. I'll be leaving from Redwood City so if anybody would like to carpool with me just let me know.

The plan is to meet at 6:00pm to purchase tickets, perhaps chat a bit at a nearby coffee shop or at the theater, and get good seating. Since this event is at a movie theater, I think it would be a bit awkward to bring blue balloons so I'll wear my bright green "Oscar the Grouch" colored sweater and stand by the box office. Once your eyes see the sweater, trust me, you'll know its me...but just in case I'll also be holding my favorite stuffed animal (it's a hamster). =)
